We took the Crakes down to Austin for their family photos on South Congress, framing the whole evening as a little family date night. From the very start, the goal was simple: keep it real.
We strolled through the streets together, weaving past colorful storefronts and soaking in that classic South Congress energy. Along the way, we stopped at the iconic Austin motel sign for a few frames — because honestly, no South Congress session feels complete without it. Then, to close things out, we ended the shoot with an ice cream treat, letting everyone relax and just enjoy being together after a busy week.
For this shoot, we wanted to capture what felt like a normal family outing for the Crakes, not a staged photo session. So we kept things silly, unposed, and full of film. As a result, every frame feels like a genuine memory rather than a performance for the camera.
The Crakes are one of our heirloom membership clients, which means we get to photograph them four times a year. Because of that consistency, we get to watch their family grow and change in real time, season by season. For this type of yearly documentation, we want each shoot to feel distinct, embodying whatever season of life they’re in at that moment. A summer evening on South Congress looks and feels completely different from a cozy fall session at home, and that contrast is exactly the point.
We only offer a select few of these heirloom membership spots each year, since the consistency and trust they require take real time to build. So, if you’re interested in documenting your family seasonally throughout an entire year, capturing the small, fleeting moments before they’re gone, we’d love to talk.
